I was commissioned recently to do the cover artwork for a devotional book entitled
Re:  Advent
Meditations and Musings for for Advent, the Incarnation and Epiphany
by Pam Strickland

As I read the manuscript, the image steadily came to my mind, that rather than a nativity scene, it should be the King of the Universe leaving behind all His glory to come to the bleak and broken earth, barren and desolate, as is our nature.  The stark mountains also represent the parting of the Red Sea, where He was present.  The King of the Universe, Jesus is walking on water to come to us, to save and redeem us.

Saturday, June 20th, I'll be playing my violin once again, with Kandy & Iain, a soulful musical duo that has performed around the world.  This fundraiser, held at the beautiful Venice Theater, benefits the Florida Center for Early Childhood., an organization that has helped at risk children for more than 35 years.  It will be an evening of culinary delights, music and my artwork will be displayed!  It has already been sold out, so no tickets are available, but I wanted to post the news.

New Pottery 2015

I'm taking a break from wheel throwing and am totally immersed in pinch pot making, an ancient form of hand building clay.  My pieces are porcelain and stoneware, fired to 2300 degrees.  All glazes are food safe and each piece can be used in a functional way, or for decorative purposes.   Hand making pottery is more time consuming than wheel throwing, but rewarding in every possible way.  Not only is the work more organic in style, but a joy to create!  Not one piece is the same, but original in form and glazing.
